351 clevo project options

hey all i'm slowly getting some cash together for a project car.
my end goal is to have a 351 clevo stroker set-up preferably in a xf/xg ford.
i've heard a few hints about if the vehicle after a certain year the motor would have to run on lpg or fuel injected due to emission laws is this true and if so what is the cutoff year?
i would also consider doing the same conversion in a ea/b can this be done and still be licensed i.e have an engineers report?
any help on this matter will be appreciated.
and yes i know the cost's will be high but this project will be spread over 3-5 years

The sound you get from a 351 with a few good bits and big carby is orgasmic. The costs will be worth it. I miss my 51's.
But to the point, I think if your car is 1976+ it needs a catalytic convertor and it should be ok.
Please anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Hopefully this will be handy
Emission control to get a "Registration" "Before you throw the real exhaust back on"

to my knowledge if there is no cat on the std car then you dont have to put one on. pretty sure all the XF's had cats - so you would have to go pre XF to get away without cat etc. As far as engineering goes if you put an engine into a car that is not the std one then you need a engineers certificate to get it passed as 'legal'. If you get a car with a 51 in it as std then your all good:-)

yeah if theres no cat converter then chances are youl l need the good ol' charcoal cannister lol.
im building a 393 clevo for my xc at the moment, and nice choice, cant beat the sound of old school v8. and you dont need to spend a billion bucks tuning computers every time you change a spark plug lol.
if you can afford an extra $2k then id recommend the stroke. because at the end of the day, the blocks are essentially the same size, and no inpector or insurance company will ever pull apart the engine to check that its not actually the 393/428 etc inside the 302/351 block ;)

Dedicated LPG means you can keep the carby and I'd have a cat converter on standby for an emissions test with a removable exhaust piece.
That's what I'm going to do to my XG when money permits anyway, although it'll be going over as a "302" so have to change my rocker covers haha
